Danby's own Kevin Curry served as President of Meriden Rotary in 1999.
Danby's History
In 1948, Fred Danby and his father Frank started Danby’s Service Station in Meriden,
Connecticut on the corner of South Broad Street and Green Road. In 1965, Danby’s moved
its operation to an East Main Street location which is still in operation today. In 1978, Kevin Danby continued the family tradition and began running A-1 Auto located at 872 East Main Street.
That year also marked Danby’s recognition as an authorized Emergency Service Provider for the Connecticut AAA Motor Club. Danby’s
soon saw the need for a Renting and Leasing division, and in 1981 became affiliated with the
now defunct natioanl Ugly Duckling Rent-A-Car chain.
In 1979, Kevin Curry began working for the Danby’s organization as a technician and wrecker driver. After Kevin graduated from Meriden's Wilcox Technical School in 1981, he continued his education at the Denver Automotive and Diesel College. In 1983, Danby's added
its Exxon Service Station, also on East Main Street in Meriden. Mr.
Curry worked at Danby’s as an ASE master technician until 1984, when he
became co-owner of Danby’s Service Station, located at 1125 East Main Street.
1993
marked the beginning of Danby’s Gasoline marketers, specializing in wholesale marketing of fuel products. Today, Danby’s Gasoline
Marketers supplies stations with such fuels as gasoline, kerosene, natural gas, propane, and diesel. In 1996, Danby’s was approved for AAA Approved Auto Repair. Danby’s also opened a new Smart Mart Convenience Store in Portland,
Connecticut.
In 1997, Danby’s became an approved NAPA Auto Care Center, which specializes in supplying high quality parts with "Peace of Mind" warranties good anywhere in the
United States. With a commitment to quality and service
