Gas to be Sold for $1.84 Thursday

10/17/2012

MERIDEN - With gas prices hovering close to $4, motorists can expect to see a long line of traffic at one city gas station that will be lowering its prices dramatically, Thursday.

Pumps at Danby's Gulf Express at 872 E. Main St. will be spewing out gasoline at $1.84 per gallon tomorrow. The event is being sponsored by the Connecticut branch of Americans for Prosperity.

When President Barack Obama took office in early 2009, gasoline was being sold at $1.84. With the Presidential election coming up in close to three weeks, the event is being held to make people aware of the situation, Connecticut AFP Director JR Romano said in a press release.

“President Obama's regulatory policies are driving up prices at the pump, making it more difficult for families to fill their car and meet basic needs,” Rmano said. “It's time for CT residents to put grassroots pressure on President Obama to reduce the burden on domestic energy production.”

Customers will be able to pump up to 15 gallons at that price. The event is being held from 4 to 6 p.m.
